Principal's Message

I love my job! It is with excitement and anticipation that I welcome you to the extraordinary 2020-2021 school year! In my second year as the principal, I look forward to continuing to cultivate an environment where students and families feel supported throughout the learning process while dealing with our new normal of online distance learning and hybrid school. I am excited to continue building relationships with students and their families as we navigate through the upcoming year. As I continue to have the honor of leading Rancho Santa Gertrudes Elementary School, I envision continuous growth through reflection, clarity, and engagement that is achievable because we continue to move forward together while facing the challenges of the pandemic head on.

We work hard at RANCHO to ensure that we meet the diverse needs of all of our students on an academic, social, and emotional level. Our staff is passionate about encouraging students to become the best version of themselves while becoming dedicated lifelong learners.

As we welcome students back to school, we know that it won't be business as usual and that we need to seek clarity about distance learning and that students need to be engaged in learning. We also recognize that student progress was held in abeyance for some as students and families learn to make the shift to learning at home. Teacher clarity will support intentional and targeted instruction as we better understand how each grade level contributes to the overall success of a student, knowing that there is priority learning at every level, and what we do every year matters. Clarity about how social emotional learning impacts academic growth and progress, and is the plate on which all other learning rests upon, is a key school-wide learning target for us.

What's in store for this coming year? In order to prepare our students for an ever-changing world, as a school we must seek and embrace change. Not for the sake of change, but for the sake of our students and staff.

We are Team RANCHO Strong as we embrace the challenges ahead, encourage each other with grace and appreciation, and empower one another as we work together to do what is best for our amazing students!

Here is to 2020-2021, a most extraordinary year!
