Dear RANCHO Community,
It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the 2019-2020 school year! I am very excited to serve all of you in my first year as your principal at Rancho Santa Gertrudes Elementary. I strongly believe in achieving any goal based on the strength of the team. As such, I look forward to working with you in partnership to achieve our goals in developing proficient learners, increasing student achievement, and building a safe, healthy school community.
We here at RANCHO, believe if all students work hard and are supported by their family, school, and community, they will be successful! We believe in continuous learning for our staff and students and work hard to further strengthen our excellent teaching of the State of California standards in both Language Arts and Math. As a vital part of the RANCHO team, please continue to reinforce the importance of reading every day. Students are expected to read multiple sources to analyze, synthesize and critically write about what they read. Reading every day at home is not an option, but a must so that your children can thrive academically, and ultimately, in their careers.
At RANCHO, we know that it takes a team working together to accomplish the level of achievement we want to see in our students. We are expecting our RANCHO parents to be involved in our school and parents are highly encouraged to actively join our RANCHO team by participating in the many opportunities to be involved in your child’s education. Children love having their parents on campus and we have many events throughout the year where you will be able to meet other parents while helping to create wonderful memories for your child. Some of the events you can get involved with are the trimester DJ parties for students meeting their reading goals, Ties and Tiaras, Fall Carnival, and Grandparents’ Day. These events and more are what directly impact the strong sense of family and community that is a cornerstone of what makes RANCHO so special.
Along with the many events throughout the year, parents are needed to serve on various committees and councils: Parent-Teacher Committee (PTC), School Site Council (SSC), and the English Learners Advisory Council (ELAC), are key groups for you as a parent to have a voice with decisions that impact our school. For information on becoming involved with these groups, I invite you to talk to me, or sign up in the school office.
As Henry Ford said, “Coming together is a beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success.” As your new principal, it is the beginning for us to partner together, to keep our focus on rigorous instruction at school and diligent support at home, and to strive in our communication with one another, in order to create the dynamic learning experiences our students deserve.
If I can be of any assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me and know that my door is always open. I can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org , or 562-692-0841. I am honored to serve as your principal.
