Rancho Santa Gertrudes Celebrated National Groundwater Day. Special guests present were: State Assemblyman Toni Mendoza, Mayor of Santa Fe Springs Mr. Joe Serrano, Mr. Albert Robles WRD Board Director, Hon. Tony Mendoza California Assemblymember, Ms. Lilian Kawasaki WRD Board Director, Ms. Maria Elena Martinez-Renteria President, Board of Trustees Rio Hondo Community College, Ms. Janna Zurita Councilwoman City of Compton, Mr. Albert Robles WRD Board Director and School Superintendent from LNSD Jonathan Vasquez.
During the ceremony Kindergarten and Fourth Grade students took The ACT Pledge:
Acknowledge - Know how you can prevent groundwater contamination.
I will not be careless and dump harmful items on the ground.
Consider - What can harm your groundwater.
Harmful items include motor oil, paint, household cleaners and
garden pesticides.
Take Action - to prevent groundwater contamination.
At the end of the ceremony each students received a bag from WRD, a certificate and drinks.
