On May 20, 2011, a team composed of fourteen 4th. and 5th. grade students under the direction of Mrs. Monica Goco and Emily Coutant won first place in the Battle of the Books competition. Battle of the Books is a literacy competition between fourth and fifth grade students sponsored by the city of Santa Fe Springs Library Literacy Services.The competition was held in the Santa Fe Springs Activity Center. Four schools in the Santa Fe Springs area, Rancho Santa Gertrudes, Jersey, Cresson and Lakeview, competed for the first place.
This was the first time in the five years that Rancho has participated that we won first place! Congratulations to all of you for your hard work and many, many hours of preparation. Your efforts make us all proud! A special thank you to the City of Santa Fe Springs Library Literacy Services for sponsoring this event.
