On October 7, 2010, the Santa Fe Springs Beautification Society gave Rancho Santa Gertrudes School a new can fir tree to help provide much needed shade on the Rancho playground. Santa Fe Springs Mayor, Betty Putnam, and the Beautification Society presented to principal, Octavio Perez, and a group of two hundred students the new can fir tree.
After a short presentation ceremony the students and staff were allowed to help put soil on the new tree. Santa Fe Springs is a valued partner to the Los Nietos School District, and it is with great appreciation that the new tree was accepted.
