The Play:
Jay and E and the ZigZag Sea is a play with music. E narrates the story of a brave boy, Jay, who is afraid of only one thing: reading. When Bookie asks Jay and his dog Libro for help, Jay must conquer his fear in order to save Bookie from being forever unread. The audience must help Jay sound out words on his journey across the ZigZag Sea, as he and his dog Libro face a bad pirate, a smart queen and some long scary words.
Recognizing that access to printed materials is crucial in improving reading achievement; each student will receive a book following the performance.
This play is sponsored by Kaiser Permanente's Literacy Promotion Program.
