Battle of the Book

Battle of the Books is a literacy competition between fourth and fifth grade students sponsored by the city of Santa Fe Springs Library Literacy Services. The competition is between four schools in the Santa Fe Springs area, Rancho Santa Gertrudes, Jersey, Cresson, and Lakeview.  Students read a series of books anywhere between 5 to 30 books during the course of the school year.  The BOB students meet after school for one hour typically on Wednesdays.  During the meetings, they focus on the following activities: Read alouds, memory drills, comprehension activities such as completing book summaries, question development and mock drills.
